Venesky-Brown Recruitment are looking for an experienced Appointed Person – Lifting Operations to support a major client delivering civils works at Sizewell C in Suffolk.
This is a long-term opportunity for an experienced lifting professional who can initially take responsibility for Appointed Person duties across two key work areas within the project.
As the project ramps up and lifting activity increases, there is potential for the successful candidate to develop into a broader Lifting Superintendent position, helping coordinate and oversee lifting operations across the wider civils programme.
Hours
- Initially 50 hours per week
- Monday to Friday
- 10 paid hours per day
- Hours and weekend working may increase as the project progresses
Pay
- £26.50 per hour basic
- £39.75 per hour – time and a half after 39 hours
- £39.75 per hour – first 4 hours Saturday
- £53.00 per hour – Saturday after the first 4 hours
- £53.00 per hour – Sunday
- CIJC lodge allowance payable where applicable
- Weekly PAYE
At the initial 50-hour Monday-Friday working pattern, gross weekly earnings are approximately £1,470.75 plus applicable lodge allowance.
Duties will include
- Planning and coordinating lifting operations across the project
- Producing, reviewing and maintaining lift plans
- Assessing lifting requirements and selecting appropriate lifting methods and equipment
- Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Crane Supervisors and Slinger/Signallers
- Ensuring lifting operations are properly planned, supervised and carried out safely
- Reviewing site conditions, crane positions, access, ground conditions and lifting restrictions
- Supporting the coordination of multiple lifting activities across different work areas
- Ensuring lifting operations comply with project procedures, LOLER, BS 7121 and relevant legislation
- Providing technical lifting advice to the wider project team
- Supporting the continued development of lifting arrangements as workload increases
Candidate requirementsWe are particularly interested in candidates with:
- CPCS A61 Appointed Person qualification, ideally Blue Card
- Strong experience planning crane and lifting operations
- Experience producing detailed lift plans and supporting documentation
- Good knowledge of LOLER and BS 7121
- Strong understanding of crane operations, lifting accessories and safe systems of work
- Previous major civils, infrastructure, utilities, nuclear or large construction project experience
- Good communication skills and the confidence to work closely with operational and management teams
- The capability and ambition to potentially progress into a wider Lifting Superintendent role
Previous Sizewell C or other major infrastructure experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
All appointments will be subject to the required Sizewell C security vetting and onboarding process.
