Venesky-Brown Recruitment are looking for an experienced Pipelaying Chargehand to support a major client delivering highways and road construction works within the Sizewell C project in Suffolk.
The role will be based on thighways/roads works and will involve leading and working alongside a small pipelaying team delivering drainage, ducting, pipework and associated underground infrastructure.
This is a hands-on Chargehand position, so we are looking for somebody who can organise and lead the gang while remaining actively involved in the work.
Pay and hours:
- £23.46–£24.46 per hour basic, depending on experience
- Initially 50 hours per week – 10 hours Monday to Friday
- Time and a half after 39 hours
- Time and a half for the first 4 hours Saturday
- Double time thereafter Saturday
- Double time Sunday
- CIJC lodge allowance payable where applicable
- Weekly PAYE
- Additional hours and weekend working may become available as the project ramps up
The role will include installation of drainage and underground pipework, working to line and level, pipe bedding and surround, chamber installation, coordinating daily activities with site supervision and ensuring the team works safely and productively.
Candidates should have previous experience as a Pipelaying Chargehand, Ganger or experienced Lead Pipelayer, ideally gained on highways, roads, major civils or infrastructure projects.
A valid CSCS and SSSTS will be required.
No security vetting is required for this role, meaning a quick mobilisation and start can be achieved for the right candidate once normal onboarding and site induction requirements are complete.
