Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit an Administrator for an initial 3 month contract on a rate of £16.21/hour PAYE – working 9am-5pm. This role will be based in Edinburgh.
 
Responsibilities:
 
– Responsibility for record keeping, documentation and communication; following agreed policies and processes for each of these.
-One of the points of contact for telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries and advice about curricula, regulations and procedures. Using a customer focused approach to filter, assess and help with queries and problems, referring students to other support colleagues and appropriate staff.
-Responsibility for organisation and administration of timetabling for the year.
-Ensuring staff and students are notified quickly of any changes to timetables.
-Liaising with Student Support Manager and Student Advisors over progression and special circumstance student records.
-Providing assessment data for the QA processes within the school.
-Assessments and examinations in the programme can be both written and practical and may use a variety of methods and venues appropriate to the course.
-Ensure accurate and reliable course information is available.
 
Essential Skills:
 
– Educated minimally to Higher standard or equivalent
– 3 years previous experience ideally in Higher Education
– Flexible, approachable and helpful with strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills
– Able to deal confidently and sensitively with students who may be upset or anxious. Able to deal with people firmly but tactfully when needed.
– A high standard of written and verbal communication.
– Highly developed IT skills (especially excel) including ability to interact with electronic systems underpinning the BVM&S programme (this may include LEARN, Risr, Speedwell and APT/EUCLID).
– Excellent organisational and time management skills
– An understanding of confidentiality and an ability to practise it
– Ability to function as part of a team with minimum supervision
– Ability to exercise initiative appropriately and to take decisions while working within an agreed framework
