Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Document Processing Operator for a 6 month contract on a rate of £15.50/hour (PAYE).
Responsibilities
– Carries out sorting duties including opening, batch preparation and clearing.
– Scans/re-scans documents to obtain the required standard of image quality to allow recognition of prescribed items and ensure accuracy of contractor payments.
– Takes bi-monthly bulk delivery receipt of submissions from around 1,400 contractors and daily delivery of Records.
– Retains submissions for 3 months and then completes a confidential waste destruction process in accordance with policy.
– Ensures the accuracy of contractor submissions reporting anomalies to the Group Leader.
– Utilises bespoke re-scan application and rescan machine for claims returned from sites.
– Using bar code readers, records the receipt and storage of contractor’s submissions into the computerised tracking system.
– Separates supporting documentation, recording identification numbers and photocopying documents to aid image mapping throughout other processes.
– Carries out basic maintenance of departmental equipment and undertakes general housekeeping duties.
– Carries out checking contractor’s payments differences from declared and processed.
– Carry out searches for internal and external customers.
– Undertake training and development in any new procedures or system development as required, to ensure detailed understanding of procedures/processes and system capabilities to support the work of the department now and in the future.
– Identify potential improvements to systems and processes, putting forward suggestions to Group Leaders or other manager as appropriate in order to improve the level of service provided by the department.
– Participate in the Turas Personal Development Planning and Review process.
– Carries out such other reasonable and appropriate duties as delegated by the Section Supervisor.
Essential Skills:
– The postholder should be educated to Standard Grade level (Grade 3 or above) or equivalent or hold appropriate SCOTVEC/SVQ modules or equivalent.
– Previous experience in a similar working environment.
– Ability to operate high speed/standard scanning equipment.
– Basic keyboard skills.
Desirable Skills:
– Experience in a similar document handling/processing environment; working to tight timeframes and deadlines, as part of a busy team in an, at times, noisy environment.
