Senior Business Support Officer 

Contract length: until 31/12/2026 
Pay rate: £14.90/hour 
Location: Swindon / Hybrid 

 

 

Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Swindon, is currently looking to recruit a Senior Business Support Officer for a contract until 31/12/2026 on a rate of £14.90/hour . This role will be hybrid based. 

 

Responsibilities  

 

– Support the Business Manager to review, improve and implement a process for the procurement of call-off consultancy contracts for specialist technical conservation advice to support the Technical Conservation Team’s advisory role to a range of audiences, including colleagues and the English Heritage Trust via a Shared Service Agreement.  Working with colleagues this will include: 

-Carrying out a scoping exercise to identify what specialist technical conservation advisory contracts are required; 

-Supporting the Head of Construction Surveying to carry out an options appraisal in liaison with the Procurement Team to identify and agree the preferred means of procurement, which meets both the business need and is fully compliant in advertising and reporting contractual opportunities; 

-Creating and implementing the programme and documentation for the procurement process and tracking progress, which can be adapted for deployment;  

-Proactively managing the procurement process in liaison with the Head of Construction Surveying and Procurement colleagues; 

-Responsibility for preparing the final contract documentation and issuing the contracts; & 

-Putting in place desk instructions detailing the operation and review process for the consultancy contracts.  

– As time allows, working with the National Specialist Services Department Business Manager, to review the information needs of the Department, including data contained on our shared drive ahead of the move to SharePoint Online and assist with the development of a filing structure that could work longer term.  

– Work with other members of the Business Support Team to provide a responsive and high-quality administration and support service for the three National Specialist Services Teams.  

– Perform any other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably required within the level of the post in support of the Department as directed by the National Specialist Services Business Manager.  

 

Essential Skills: 

 

– Demonstrable experience of project administration and coordination, including data and information management processes  

– Understanding of project and programme management (where a candidate has not had formal project management training, it can be provided) 

– Strong organisational skills, particularly the ability to prioritise tasks effectively  

– Ability to analyse information and present conclusions in a clear manner 

– Good written and oral communication skills 

– Good numeracy and analytical skills 

– Applied knowledge of standard office software packages, eg Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
